Biking

Arm yourself with a GPS device, a guide, a map, a heart rate monitor and a cadence sensor. Don't forget a spare tube and a water backpack or bottle. For those of you that traverse the trail, the experience will remain in your memory for a long time after you manage to catch your breath.

Something for everyone. Cycling over the flatlands along the Soča or on steep slopes at an altitude of 2040 m.

Downhill: Kanin Mountain Biking Park: length 4.5 km. Elevation change: 600 m
Take the Kanin cable-car to station B and from there another 2 km up a gravel road to the park entrance. The park is divided into three sections based on difficulty level. The upper and middle parts are easier and the lower is more difficult (you can walk around it on the road). The park includes ladders, jumps, bridges and parts with technical segments.

Road cycling: Mangartsko sedlo (2040)
Mangart - a very challenging classic cycling tour that takes you on the highest Slovenian panoramic road through five tunnels that lead under Mangart mountain. The starting point can be Kobarid, Bovec or the turn for Mangart that is not far from the Predel border crossing. If you choose that latter option, you'll climb to an altitude of 940 meters in less than 12 km.

Vršič - a very challenging classic cycling tour that, just like Mangart, can be started in Kobarid or Bovec. From Bovec, in 31 km you climb 1230 meters. If one goal is not enough for you, you can connect the tour with the "Kugy circle" that connects Bovec with Kranjska Gora and Trbiž. In one touristic route, you can thus pedal your way to conquering two passes - Predel and Vršič.

MTB: circle over Stol (Kobariški Stol)
A demanding circular tour that brings you back to the starting point: From Kobarid, go in the direction of Bovec, and turn left in the village of Žaga. At the abandoned border crossing, turn left onto the gravel road that leads to the southern slopes of Stol. From here then, you can return to Kobarid along the mountain's south side.

In the narrower protected area of the Triglav National Park, it is prohibited to ride with bikes off of the few meter wide roads. In order that you won't be deprived your wild mountain biking enjoyment, choose the terrain around Kobarid and Bovec (west side) for your adventure or the southern slopes of Krna. Guided tours are also available.
