FAQ

Some of your most frequently asked questions. If you cannot find an answer here or on the site, contact us.

Weather related questions:

Is there a lot of snow there in winter?

There is not a lot of snow in Kobarid (in the valley) during the winter. Due to the influence of the Mediterranean climate, Kobarid often experiences dry winters. If snow falls, it quickly melts. The basic rule is that from the valley (Trenta) upwards there is more snow because the altitude is higher. In the Julian Alps, snowfall can be up to 5m (Kredarica-Triglav).

How's the weather in summer? Is it hot?

In summer, the temperature can reach 30°C in Kobarid. The temperature quickly cools when there is rain. Nights and mornings are pleasantly fresh. In the mountains, the weather is characterised by large temperature fluctuations (cold nights and mornings, hot days).

Questions related to mobility and transfers:

What airport connections are available?

There are no direct links between any airport and Kobarid. Your best options are either to rent a car or arrange for the Hotel Hvala transfer bus. We are happy to pre-arrange a transfer for you even if you have a large group (up to 8 persons) or we will organise transportation.

Can I rent a car in Kobarid?

Yes. We represent Europcar rent-a-car at our reception.

Is it possible to get to Gorenjska (Bled in Bohinj) via a car-train?

Yes. This is one of the easiest ways to get to Gorenjska and one of the most comfortable. The car-train runs 2 x per day in the summer. The entry/exit point is Most na Soči. The car-train schedule can be found here.

How far are we from airports (Venice, times)?

Find information regarding the distances here.

We are at Bled. What is the quickest way to get to Kobarid?

If you are driving, you have two options:
Go in the direction of Bohinj to Bohinjska Bistrica over the Soriška Mountains and Bača, then after Baška Grapa to Tolmin and Kobarid (note: very narrow winding road)
Via the Vršič mountain pass (Bled-Kranjska Gora-Bovec-Kobarid) or through Italy (Bled-Kranjska Gora-Trbiž-Predel-Bovec-Kobarid).
The simplest and least tiring option is a combination of the train + a taxi or our transfer bus (Bled-Bohinjska Bistrica-Most na Soči). In this case, you ride through a 10 km tunnel that is located after Bohinjska Bistrica.
